I managed to get a binary of perl 5, alpha 8 to compile on the
DEC. It's installed in the perl locker, as "perl5". I put it there a
while ago, but there have been enough questions concerning it so that it
seemed like a good idea to make an announcement. This is technically the
"miniperl", without some of the database stuff, but with the language
features. This binary is utterly, totally, and completely unsupported,
and was compiled in a fit of madness. I might fix a bug that's trivial,
such as a path name, but I have no interest in chasing down code problems.
