After discussing this with Naomi we decided that the right group to
examine the issue is the ppt, especially since they are meeting next
Wednesday. Bruce has agreed to represent the release team at the
meeting (Thanks, Bruce!) since I may not be here. I'm including the
text of the message I sent to the ppt. If you have any particular
points to stress that were not mentioned this morning, please let me or
Bruce know.

Hello all,
At today's release team meeting we spent a great deal of time discussing
some of the issues surrounding the ktelnet/ktelnetd being included in
this release. We raised a number of questions about how this could
potentially affect users and therefore consulting and how we could
offset any negative effects. We do not believe that we are the right
group to adequately examine the consequences for users and consulting
or to approve the implementation details.
I am therefore asking that you add an agenda item for next Wednesday's
meeting to discuss this issue. Bruce Lewis has agreed to represent the
release team at this meeting and will be able to clearly explain both
the issues and a proposed solution. Our main concern is to somehow
make things relatively simple for the end user without introducing
potential security holes or other problems. (Somehow that's starting to
sound like common sense, but Bruce can explain it in detail.)
