daemon@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (Mike Barker)
Tue Mar 25 14:39:02 1997

To: release-team@MIT.EDU
Date: Tue, 25 Mar 1997 14:39:00 EST
From: Mike Barker <mbarker@MIT.EDU>

Attending: ghudson, wdc, dot, cfields, kcunning, othomas, carla,
mbarker, jweiss, brlewis

Next meeting: if there are items to discuss, Greg will hold a meeting
on 4/1. Otherwise, 4/8.

1. Backing store in X for Autocad

Action Item: test enabling it and determine best approach for 8.1

Action Item: dot will tell the professor to go ahead with local
customization for now. note: re-installation will require rehacking.

2. Zip drives - the desire is to put 40-50 drives on some mix of suns
and sgi systems as soon as practical.

Action Item: mbarker/wdc will check into getting several drives for
testing (5-10).

Action Item: someone (othomas?) will coordinate checking:
	- what kinds of file systems do the drives/software support?
	- what kinds of file system(s) interoperability do we need?
	- how can we set it up for easy user access? (hesiod,
attach.conf, even vold config files were mentioned--what works?)

3. ^c password patch from Solaris requires replacing two libraries

Action Item: cfields will check whether the patch works

Decision: we will NOT make a general release of this patch at this
time. We believe the 8.1 release (with Solaris 2.5.1) will resolve
the problem.

4. Patch Release 8.0K for SGI - went out. looks good. This does
mean that applix for SGI should now work, so we may hear more about
bugs in that software.

5. Roundtable

Action Item: carla will make afs-contacts discuss meeting

Information: Jonathon and Greg have worked out disk partitions for 2
gig, 1 gig, and 0.5 gig drives

Information: Consultants will be moving April 4-6. New location is
4-070, complete with water and silverfish.
