Note: These minutes are intended to provide indications of the
discussion that took place. They are not complete. If you have
questions about the discussion, please contact individuals and ask.

1. The 8.0K release for Solaris went out. Due to the synchronization
of the update (lots of workstations found themselves idle and took
it--over 200), the network was well loaded.

Action Item: Send ideas to ghudson about possible ways to desynch the
updating process.

2. There is a bug in the attach handling of explicit names. However,
this should not hold back the knfs release.

ghudson "There is a bug in the current attach code, but it only
affects explicit mounts. So you can reproduce the bug by doing
"attach -e jason:/u1/bitbucket" just as well as by doing "attach -e
gypsy:/forfun". But if you do "attach bitbucket", a Hesiod lookup
gets done and, because there happens to be a socket with fd 7 after
the Hesiod lookup, the bug isn't triggered."

Decision: No early patch release for attach correction.

3. Quickstations. We have one in the field (testcluster, acorn).

Decision: At present, to "declare" a workstation as a quickstation,
send mail to cfields.

4. Sendmail: the workaround in 8.0K should improve the situation.
There is a possible rare situation (involving repeated failures over
24 hours) which may result in mail being locked so that the workaround
will not deal with the problem, but a reboot will still free such
mail.

Inaction Item: 8.1 should clear up the rest of the problems. We'll wait.

5. Crash and Burn is on track

6. Patch 1489 -- Bill is checking status. SGI is still checking in changes.

Action Item: If we don't get a final version within a week, we'll use 1278
and go ahead with SGI 8.0K

7. We're going to cancel quickstation irritant as part of SGI until 8.1

8. Feature freeze for 8.1 near the end of April

Other random conversation took place.
