I don't think we're "very confident" about it, no. I'm not certain
that on all platforms, clntudp_create() will use a reserved port, and
there may be NFS servers configured to only accept connections on
reserved ports.
(As you might expect, a major screw is that I cannot easily look at
SGI source code.)
