Hi ya'll. Here's the notes from last Friday's meeting as best I can
recall. (In other words, let me know if I recall incorrectly.)
In attendance: Dot, Carla, JJ, Gary, Matt, Mark, Kevin
We first discussed two proposed last-minute additions to the release:
1. Change to olh clients to remove from packs
2. Suggestion from Ezra to replace "from" call with "msgchk" in
default dotfiles
The decision was made to replace the olh* binaries with symlinks to
/afs/athena/system. This was done in order to leave all options open,
not to force any certain option (WWW, etc.) at this time.
We also decided not to implement the change to msgchk. The switch to
"from" was a conscious decision made just so that we could disable it if
necessary.
We then did a quick status check of code cut and integration. The
following changes were noted:
AFS 3.3 clients: The DECstation will remain at 3.2
Kerberos V support: Not in this release
Kerberized remote accessL work still proceeding on RS/6000 version
dm/xlogin: magic cookie implementation replaced with
xhost implementation
syslogd bug fix: Everything done except for lpr
Carla also raised a question about the version of sources used to build
the OLC server. Mark answered that we used the only stable version of
sources that build and are aware of the outstanding bug in that version.
There is a workaround in place, however. (The bug concerns tickets.)
Integration & build is proceeding without foreseeable problems. We
can't see any unforeseeable problems right now either.
We ended the meeting by talking about next steps. The first version of
the system release notes will be available soon; the user release notes
will be written from the system ones.
