To more correctly answer this, login-graphical works in alpha/-development.  I believe -login and lower should work out of production, with the caveat that machtype is in -proposed.  You will get a working machtype in Precise from production, but it will report the wrong sysname (one version off).   But it should certainly be good enough for testing.
