Further discussion on zephyr points out that third-party Ubuntu packages=20
are specifically supposed to install into /opt:

Incidentally, Alex, did you consider using Marco d'Itri's packaging? It=20
looks mostly reasonable to me, but I haven't gotten around to trying to=20
build it.
