Hi Louis,

We're still investigating the possibility of providing an updated installation CD for Athena 9.

However, as I noted on the phone, Athena 9 has not received security updates for over a year at this point, and thus any breakins are likely to recur, even with secure passwords. You can minimize the effect of such breakins by disabling remote login to the workstations, but we'd still like to minimize impact by finding an alternative.

The base operating system underlying Athena 9 -- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 -- is approaching 5 years old and will soon stop receiving security updates. The best approach might be to contact the vendor of your emulation software and inquire about an updated copy which supports modern operating systems.

If, for example, the vendor supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, the best choice might be to install that instead of Athena 9. RHEL 5 is available at MIT by site license.
