It looks as if there are two problems with the Sparc 4's in w20.

1. the hesiod information was set for public-sys this resolved
to 7.7, so the systems tried to get the wrong packs, and lost.
Brian Melanson hand-hacked the information to public-sun4sys, and
said he would fix the moira info so that when it propogates tonight
we don't lose again.

Note: this doesn't seem to match what other sun systems have.

this is not a new sparc 4
hesinfo w20-575-123 cluster
lpr pulp
syslib athena-sun4sys-80 8.0
syslib public-sunsys

this is a new sparc 4
hesinfo w20-575-38 cluster
lpr ajax
syslib athena-sun4sys

2. installing from solar fails. first, there are errors

cp cannot access /srvd/etc/passwd.std
cp cannot access /srvd/etc/shadow.std
cp cannot access /srvd/etc/groups.std

and when the system loads, the console claims (something like)

reactivate: can't execute /etc/athena/kdestroy
(not found?)

twice, then flashes the screen and repeats.

however, installing from solar2 works. it loads the old stuff,
then runs an update and comes up as an 8.0 system.

temporarily, cluster support is installing from solar2.

miki is checking what is wrong with installing sparc 4 systems
from solar.

more news when we get it!
mike
