As I mentioned on zephyr last night, I upgraded the CUPS servers' software
to the 1.4.3 release in subversion. It had several fixes that I had
pulled into the 1.4.2 release that I had on the servers before, but I
wanted to get rid of the last legacy code bits that still had hooks into
LDAP. The only customizations that are currently in the running code are:
1. Fixing the lpq output, if you have ironically an LPRng client, turned
on a CUPS server.
2. Logging fixes for jobs submitted over non-CUPS LPR.
3. Replacing the standard CUPS banner with the Athena banner that I had
modified from the original LPRng wrapper.
I've been monitoring and jobs seem to be flowing.
Garry's also put in changes to allow me to create duplex-default queues
without the use of bounce/alias queues, as well as some other fixes that
we needed in Ops. I just haven't had the chance to update the code, which
will not only have this new functionality, but will also have a few fixes
to remove printers whose hosts are deactivated in moira and to print to
the printer's IP address (to remove the DNS barrier to adding/changing
printers).
