Hello,

It is my belief that the remaining outstanding issues for the
Debathena/Athena 10 merger are as follows. From looking through these
issues, none of them seem very time-consuming (with the possible exception
of updating the Debathena apt repository, which I am working on). I thus
believe that it would be possible to complete the merger before early
deployment on Wednesday if that is desired.

- The installers. This is essentially done, as explained in my recent
email on the topic.

- The archive public keys. I've discussed the issues related to the
public keys in detail in my mail about the installers; fixing this seems
totally doable.

- The websites. The prototype currently in development on
http://debathena.mit.edu/beta is not yet done, but I'm happy with its
currently state. Aside from the remaining TODOs, I would be happy to
deploy the current version on the main page of http://debathena.mit.edu
before Wednesday (there may be advantages to keeping "beta" in the URI in
the materials next to the machines, though).

- The apt repositories. We need to determine whether there are any
differences between the two that we've forgotten about. Unfortunately,
the Debathena apt repository is out of date; I've started compiling
everything and hope to be able to upload them and then send a report on
the differences between the two apt repositories sometime tomorrow.

- The debathena-counterlog package. It determines whether to send a
counter syslog packet to wslogger.mit.edu depending on the apt
configuration. I'd be OK with making this unconditional. We might also
want to have it send the new 'machtype -L' output, but that can happen
later.

- The two versions of debathena-gdm-config. Geofft recently committed a
change making there be only one, so I believe this to be dealt with.

- Access for Athena 10 project members to the debathena locker, website,
private signing keys, and apt repository. I would be happy to create pts
entries for appropriate principals in the sipb cell and add them to
debathena-root, which would grant full access to the Debathena locker.
I'd similarly be happy to grant access to the current Debathena private
key on debuild.mit.edu. What principals should I be adding?

- The apt repository access guidelines. Greg Price and I have done some
work on a draft of this. While it is important that it happen eventually,
I think this is not a blocker to merging the repositories.

People should comment if they disagree with anything I've said.

	-Tim Abbott
