Anders and I figured out that setting {${USER}.po15.csail.mit.edu/imap}
works for us, so just replacing
{mit.edu/hesiod/imap}
with
{${ATHENA_USER}.mail.mit.edu/imap}
in the two places in /etc/pine.conf will address this issue. Anders says,
"everything that works in Alpine also seems to work in PINE."
There's the problem that debathena-standard / debathena-clients users,
like myself, don't have $ATHENA_USER set. It doesn't appear to support the
sh-like syntax of ${ATHENA_USER:-${USER}}. One workaround is to default
$ATHENA_USER to $USER in /etc/profile or something, even for -clients.
