I wanted to give you an update from Red Hat on what they're doing
about the RHEL 4.7 Firefox 3 printing problem.
As you know, I opened a Service Request saying, essentially, "HEY!
Pay attention to bugzilla 456942. It's a nasty regression!"
Their level 2 support agrees it's a nasty regression and has kicked
off a process to get a hotfix crafted, tested, and deployed. Today
at about 4:00 PM Red Hat provided source and binary RPMs (for i386
and x86_64) for me to test with.
Essentially the regression was missed because not enough people
complained about it to give it visibility.
I've suggested that Red Hat needs to have a better way than counting
complaints after a release to determine something needs to be fixed.
Anyway, Red Hat is being responsive, and actually seems to be
refining its processes to do a better job at fixing things, and maybe
being more proactive.
