Action:

1. Check in on any printing infrastructure developments.

Discussions about a CUPS infrastructure supported by IS&T are ongoing.
Such infrastructure will not be online by January for the Athena 10
Early release, but there is reason to believe that at some point there
will be IS&T CUPS infrastructure.

2. Monthly Status Report

Will be sent out as soon as Athena login report comes in.

3. Review Athena 10 status and gap to go-live.

 * We're going to let the nmh support go now at current stopgap level:
KPOP.

 * We're going to see if we can get away with de-support of Movemail in
Emacs.

 * discuss login session options: We'll get rid of misleading sessions.
We will investigate offering Firefox Kiosk mode. We'll investigate
getting rid of the "Register for an Account" button. wdc strongly feels
an aesthetic facelift is important.

* discuss attach/automounter issues: We have specified the behavior and
await code to test.

4. Discuss Post-term Patch release, specifically Screen power saving.

* jweiss submitted the patch.
* wdc has crafted a web page for the other work around Screen power
saving.

5. Discuss lert: Is it still needed or can we de-comission it.

* Tabled to next meeting.

6. Update on Solaris Sunset effort.

* wdc will draft an announcement and bring it to owls.

7. Decide about December 17th and following meetings.

* wdc will move Release Team to not conflict with Identity Management
meetings, half an hour later. Maybe weekly in IAP?

Q: Should we install VMWare tools or player by default in Athena 10?
A: Because installing one conflicts installing the other, and because we
don't know if the more common use case will be to run Athena 10 in a VM,
or to host VMs in Athena 10, we will install neither player nor tools,
but instead provide instructions on doing one or the other.

Q: Should we make PPD files available for the IS&T Supported printers in
Athena 10?
A: Doing this seems of low cost and high value. We should try to do
this and keep the offering up to date. We need a mechanism to trigger
this update activity.
