It turns out the code to hack grub.conf doesn't work because the
"kernel >= 2.4.9" trigger that does ext3 filesystem conversion has
precedence over the generic "kernel" trigger. (This either represents an
undocumented rpm feature or a bug, probably depending on who you ask.)
I've submitted a patch which should fix the problem; barring another dev
cell release in the very near future, I expect the public release should
get pushed back a bit.
