Greetings Athena Release Team,
I teach a course 8.13 in which we ask students to generate their oral
presentation slides using LaTeX on athena. There is a very nice new LaTeX
class called BEAMER  available at

http://latex-beamer.sourceforge.net/

That we'd like to be able to ask our students to use.
Is it possible to add this to athena so that it's available univerally?

Thanks,
Scott

This is a bit tricky- I don't maintain Latex, it's part of the Athena release.
I'd forward the request to release-team@mit.edu. If they accept, it would
probably take a fair amount of time before it actually becomes available.

If they decline, it may be possible to run it from a locker, as olc
suggests. Unfortunately I know next to nothing about Tex/Latex because
I've never worked with it. I know SIPB maintains various lockers
containing Tex/Latex (the newtex locker for example), and they might
be willing to help. They have a general-purpose mailing list bug-sipb@mit.edu
that the requestor could post to; couldn't find anything more specific
in the newtex locker (amu, who wrote the README, is no longer at MIT I
believe).

                                           Alex
