Early release is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18th. (Whether that
means the night before or the night of is open at this point...) Any
workstation which is configured to take the release and has
AUTOUPDATE=true in /etc/athena/rc.conf will automatically take the
release. If AUTOUPDATE is set to false, the machine will not
automatically update, but the results may very well be unpredictable, a
point which will be stressed in the mail each early tester will
receive. (In other words, we strongly urge early testers to set
AUTOUPDATE to true.)
I expect to send out two messages today, one to the contacts for early
test machines and one to ise40, is11, sipb-staff, and cluster-managers.
The first message will inform contacts about the upcoming release and
the second will do the same and ask for testers. A more detailed
message about taking the release and its contents will be sent shortly
before the actual release.
