beta test, what's that?

So, Craig and I realized that we didn't understand the current naming
convention for the testing clusters. Along with Carla and Mike and
some other people we decided te following was the right thing. The
names should all look familar, and we should probably not changes
these without a really good reason, since doing so will confuse many
people. We noted that there are probably some people who are not in
the beta and early clusters who ought to be. we didn't really decide
how to deal with this. the release team should look into this.
We also decided that we (Craig will be doing this) will be setting up
teh beta cluster so that you have to take the update from 7.7 to 8.0
by hand (at leaset until the realease goes to early test). However,
once you take 8.0 letter bumps will be taken automatically, if you
have AUTOUPDATE set to true. this means that we will need to send
odirections on how to take the first update.
