Now that we are live with stand-alone RHEL 4, the Browsers at MIT should
change.
The Mozilla PFD now says:
Mozilla Firefox 1.0.x is Fully Supported
Mozilla 1.7.3 is Fully Supported.
Mozilla 1.4.x is Being Phased Out.
The Mozilla Firefox 1.0.x version page says:
Firefox 1.0.x is fully integrated into Red Hat Enterprise 4 and version
1.0 is installed with the operating system.
The Mozilla 1.7.x version page says:
Mozilla 1.7.3 is included as an option with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.
It can be installed and updated via the Red Hat Network service. As of
Athena 9.4, the supported version of Mozilla on Athena is 1.7.x.
Given these facts, I suggest the following changes to the Browsers at
MIT page:
Old:
Athena: Mozilla
Mozilla 1.7.x is the current version available in the Athena
environment running on Linux and Solaris.
Linux: Mozilla
Mozilla 1.4.x is the current version for stock (non-Athena) Red
Hat Enterpise Linux Version 3.
Becomes:
Athena: Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla 1.7.x is the current version available in the Athena
environment running on Linux and Solaris.
Mozilla Firefox 1.0.x will become the default browser in the
Athena environment on Linux and Solaris with Athena version 9.4
targeted for release in Mid July
Linux: Mozilla Firefox
Mozilla Firefox 1.0.x is the current default browser for stock
(non-Athena) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 4.
Mozilla 1.7.x is available as an option for Red Hat Enterprise
Linux Version 4.
Mozilla 1.4.x is the current version for stock (non-Athena) Red
Hat Enterpise Linux Version 3.
