Hi! Here are the notes from today's meeting.
In attendance: Dot, Bruce, Kevin, John Chase, Matt, Mark, Carla, Gary.
We quickly reviewed the status of each of the items proposed for the
release. Please see Dot for information about the status of any
particular item.
We also talked about testing, and what particular issues there are for
each of the proposed items:
Solaris -- we'll need to have a few people using the machine for
day-to-day use. Mark says it'll feel different; there should be a
mention of that in the release notes
AFS -- Mark and Miki are working on a plan
Emacs -- cut and paste, including to/from xterm and ez. Reading and
inserting files. Rmail and mh-rmail. eolcr? discuss? Mark'll have a
list of the .el files that change. Colors, reverse, etc. Loading 8-bit
files.
MH -- try commands on all platforms
kerberos V -- did you get a ticket?
telnet/remote access -- Bruce testing on dialup. Private workstation
owners should try new telnetd. People should telnet places from
different platforms.
dm/xlogin -- if it didn't work, you couldn't get in
dsmail -- server portion; private workstation owners to test
TeX/LaTeX -- do documents tex/latex and print properly?
x11r5 clients -- Mark'll have a list of clients that look different,
and we should ask people to test them
moira -- run
zshutdown -- shutdown machines and see if there's proper notification
mkserv -- did your machine take the update? Did Jonathon's?
AIX -- same as Solaris. Need to include broad range of people.
Consultants (including micro consultants?)? Hire people?
Perl -- self-test, run scripts including moira's perl scripts
Kerberos pl 9-- rlogin, rcp, ksrvutil, kpasswd
Andrew -- include people from writing department
zephyr -- use it
snmpd -- Systems Support
OLC -- line editing! motd changing! Carla, William, other consultants
to test. Test olc and olcr.
Next meeting -- none scheduled yet. We'll send mail around during the
week of the 18th to decide what we should meet about and when.
