That sounds like a potential bug in our software, but since I haven't
heard any other instances of it, I'll leave it alone for now.

I've seen an as-yet-undiagnosed bug where the initial gnome-terminal
occasionally comes up with a too-small font for some reason, but
subsequently created terminal windows are fine.  Could that explain your
problem?
