Carla is clearly correct hear -- any change like this to mh's
behavior needs to be done as part of a release, and done across
the board on all platforms.

ANYHOW, Mike said:

This isn't quite right, though.

We know how to convert MS word documents to framemaker. The only
supported conversion is word 4 to frame, by virtue of frame 5 not
being officially supported. Frame 5 (which is installed but not
supported--yet) has a version of word2mif that will convert word 5
(and word 6? I don't remember) files to MIF format.

The other trick is converting MIME -> Word, which sometimes involves
unbinhexing (there are programs in the consult and sipb lockers to do
this, neither of which is in the release, nor do we necessarily want
the release to refer to).

Whether we want to convert the MIF to Frame and launch Frame, or
convert the MIF to PS and launch ghostview, or any number of other
things is not necessarilly apparent, but we _can_ make word files easy
to view, and it stands to reason that we should if we can think of a
good way.

This is a release-team issue, not a sol24 issue, however, I think.
I've bcc-ed release-team, and if there's further discussion on this
it should move there and sol24 dropped from the cc list.
