I'm confused. The above says that builds done on Athena fail to run
against the native perl; I don't understand why adding any capabilities
to the Athena perl would change that situation.
It's worth noting that we do install the native perl packages on both
Solaris and Linux; why can't you build against those rather than
/usr/athena/bin/perl?
