This is a reminder that the Athena 9.2.16 patch release is currently
schedule for the evening of Monday September 1. Changes include:
On Linux:
* USB zip drives should work.
* Pixmaps in /usr/share/pixmaps are present in /usr/athena/share/pixmaps.
* xmms will have MP3 support again.
* The cdrecord, rhpl, unzip, and kernel RPMs are upgraded from Red Hat.
On Solaris:
* Mozilla will work when /usr/athena/lib is in LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
* Caps/num lock should work in gnome-terminal and other programs.
* Installed machines will properly get platform name in version file.
* All previous 9.2 Sun patches are reapplied to work around an update bug.
* Sun patch 112817-09 is applied to update the ce ethernet driver.
On both platforms:
* olc clients will accept "ls" for "list".
* The "netscape" glue script is gone.
* rndc (a BIND command to control named) will function properly.
* aklog will work against Heimdal KDCs.
* GNU aspell 0.50.3 is installed.
* Evolution is upgraded to 1.4.4.
* Evolution now has spell-checking support.
* Mozilla URL completion should work again.
* Mozilla startup problems due to corrupt system registries are fixed.
* User-specified search engine preferences in Mozilla are fixed.
* The AFS "backup" command can do a restore from multiple drives.
If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually
after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and
running "update_ws".
