The last time I tried logging in to a public Linux machine I couldn't
(N42-286). Did the uid 77 conflict get fixed?

Oops, apparently it changed back in the Athena 9.2 release, which is
currently in early test. Very sorry about that; it will be fixed in the
next patch release (which will happen before 9.2 goes public).
