Issues:

  * We discovered that our beta testers were not big users of GNOME, so
too many new GNOME bugs were discovered during Early that should,
ideally, have been discovered during Beta. We hope to change our mix
of testers and strengthen the GNOME aspect of Beta testing next time
around.

Key learnings:

Additional comments:

We are dropping the old method of machine counting as of July 1, 2003

SGI was officially de-supported at 00:00:01 July 1, 2003. We will
celebrate soon!

Athena Monthly machine counts:

Summary: About the same as last month.

New method: Have systems get themselves a unique id every time they
install, and report every day they are up.  This over-counts systems
installed multiple times, and under-counts systems that predate Athena
9.1.

June May        April        Delta

744 linux	756 linux  753 linux    -12
  64 sgi 61 sgi    64 sgi       +3
784 sun 786 sun    824 sun4     -2

Old method:  Count unique host names seen rebooting.  To remedy
under-count systems that don't reboot, we sum over a six months.  That
over-counts systems that were re-purposed to non-athena use.

Summary:
898 Solaris up 8
939 Linux down 16

Eventually the two counts should converge on the same value, but it's
still a noisy count with 10-20% error.

Here are the number of reboots we saw:

Solaris:
Month:  Jan    Feb    Mar    Apr    May    Jun
This:   746    444    751    495    731    350
Sum:    1007   958    914    909    890    898

Linux:
Month:  Jan    Feb    Mar    Apr    May    Jun
This:   461    410    459    439    326    274
Sum:    1193   1137   1064  1000    955    939
