Hi,

I'm guessing the part that was really slow was "updating root symlinks
before synctree". There are several reasons this is so slow. In no
particular order:

	* That's a 4 1/2 year old machine.  Send mail to ac-proposals
          to ask about getting it upgraded.

	* With the "new" partitioning scheme there is a lot more stuff
          that is brought local by the release that mkserv has to look
          at.  this takes time.

	* mkserv interacts poorly with certain aspects of having /var
          on the same partition as / Unfortunately, I haven't had the
          time or energy to come up with a sane fix for this problem.
