From: Mike Barker <mbarker@MIT.EDU>

Summary: We expect to put the following in an IAP release:
SNMPD for SGI (cview displaying SGIs)
	SGI help
	MAE on pack
	Solaris AFS 3.3a
	AIX 3.2.5 install patch

1. Items we consider crucial to the IAP Release

MAE on pack. this affects SOLaris only. the software is node-locked
and licensed. if you are not using it, there is no effect. However,
cluster patrol has difficulty with the install, then come back and
mkserv mae process.

SGI help. currently uses olh_motif and does not come up correctly if
started from an xterm that was started from the SGI desktop (xterm's
from dash and starting help from dash both seem to work!) this should
point to the web help like other platforms.

AIX 3.2.5 install patch. currently, install on AIX requires someone
to come back later and run /os/os_update. hartmans has provided patch.

SGI install server able to work with all subnets. currently corrected
and being operationally tested. basically, just including this for
completeness.

if ready:

vold patching (SOLaris 2.4 version backported to 2.3)
SNMPD on SGI. this will allow cview to correctly display the SGIs.

Items discussed and considered unlikely and noncrucial:

SGI 8.0 Athena. We may have the changes. Testing should proceed.
This may get put in if ready.

AFS 3.4. Transarc says they will have AFS 3.4 GA release at the end
of November. Testing and other considerations make it unlikely that
we could include this, even if they hit their target date.

IRIX 5.3. We are unpacking the disks and preparing for this.
However, it requires AFS 3.4.

SOLaris 2.4. Again, Miki is preparing for this. However, it requires
AFS 3.4.

2. What other items are we planning to include in the release?

AFS 3.3a for SOLaris. This has been in testing. No problems seen.

3. What needs to happen? and 4. Who needs to do it?

1. Code (or other fix) ready?
MAE--simply unpack the pieces in mkserv mae
	AIX--hartmans has supplied patch
	AFS 3.3a--ready
	SNMPD--jis/tom writing
	SGI help--minor fix
	vold patch--bdrosen working

2. Can DCNS-dev crank the green box to take recommended changes and
turn them into modified packs/updated stuff?

Answer: wdc and mbarker are working on it. it may not be pretty, but
we should be able to get the results.

3. list of changes (us?)
4. release notes (kevin)
5. friendly testers (dot)
6. stock answers (carla)
7. "head's up" meeting with consultants (mike)
8. info for testers, staff (dot)

Best Guess Schedule:

1. Code/changes should get to rel eng by Nov. 28
2. To testers: Dec. 5
3. To field: the first Tuesday in January--Wednesday, Jan. 3

Parking Lot Issues:

1. SGI help doesn't work
2. SGI dash items not greyed out
3. SGI EZ?
4. lockers, packs, versions, and other packaging problems
5. ART/APT/ACT
6. Orange
