Summary: Mozilla 1.2.1 becomes the Athena default on Solaris, Linux,
and IRIX on the morning of Monday February 3, 2003.

Detail:

We have been struggling for some time to integrate, test, and deploy an
update to Mozilla ever since mozilla.org announced the 1.0.1 security
patch release in October.

Unfortunately, the 1.0.1 release had so much code back ported from 1.1
that it was like a flaky version of 1.1 -- less functionality, and more
flakiness. Version 1.2.1 offers the security fixes we require, and the
robustness we require. It has been under test in the infoagents locker.

We have found 1.2.1 to work as well as or better than 1.0.

People can get the old version by typing:

	add infoagents
	mozilla-1.0

The switch will be made in the read/write infoagents locker on Sunday,
so that it is propagated to the read-only locker early Monday morning,
and then mirrored on to the local disk of Athena workstations for use
at the beginning of the work day on Monday.

Note also, that, we've built and deployed Mozilla 1.2.1 for the SGI Irix
platform. Up until now, Netscape 4.78 remained the default on Athena IRIX.
Now we have Mozilla available there too.
