Bob Basch and Todd Belton are working together on an update of Mozilla
from 1.0 to 1.0.1 on Linux and Sun.
This involves building Mozilla 1.0.1 for Sun here, and in making sure
that our customization process is repeatable.
We are not going to pursue an upgrade to 1.1 until the IAP timeframe.
Now that actual work is getting done on the 1.0.1 upgrade there will be
a series of judgement calls regarding its deployment:
It will probably happen a couple days after drop date, if at all.
The motivation will be, "to close security holes and improve
reliability".
We may decide that 1.0.1 is too much change to inflict after drop date.
We are also attempting to make sure that if 1.0.1 goes out, but needs to
be retracted as the default, that doing so won't do bad things to
people's profiles.
Also for the record: This work was delayed by having the only Athena
Mozilla resource, Todd, usurped by SAP Web work that was deemed more
urgent and more important. To help improve this situation, I've asked
Bob Basch to learn how to act as backup to Todd on infoagents work.
