This is a reminder that the Athena 9.1.14 patch release is currently
scheduled for the evening of Monday August 19. Changes include:
* On Linux and Solaris, OpenAFS now has fakestat support, so that
(most) file browsers can descend into /afs without taking forever.
* OpenAFS should now start up okay without network.
* OpenAFS has some rpc security fixes.
* An askpass program is installed for openssh so that ssh-agent can
ask for a password without a tty.
* The latin2/Type1 font directory will be removed from the xfs
configuration, to make the Star Office help system work.
* Symlinks have been added for the Transcript programs which were
moved to the psutils locker.
* Solaris installs should log the correct time.
* The counterlog script will recover from creating an ID file which
doesn't get flushed to disk.
* The Linux public workstation verifier won't spuriously reinstall
so many RPMs.
* The /usr/java symlink will be correctly pointed at java1.2 instead
of java1.1.
* On Solaris machines without separate /usr and /var partitions,
about 200MB of additional data will be moved local, mostly so that
Evolution will start up faster.
* The update to 9.1 on Solaris and IRIX won't allow updating across
more than one full release, since that doesn't generally work.
* The Athena inetd supports a -p option to set the pid file, so that
multiple instances can be run at once.
* On Linux, The pnpdump error when athena-ws is installed should be
gone.
* On Linux, the cpp, gcc, glibc, losetup, mount, and util-linux RPMs
were upgraded to keep current with Red Hat 7.3.
If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually
after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and
running "update_ws".
