This is a reminder that the Athena 9.1.12 patch release is currently
scheduled for the evening of Monday July 29. Changes include:

  * Pine can see inbox folders in the MH and local Pine mail stores.

  * olcr now includes a reply-to header by default.

  * An sshd security hole has been fixed. (Our configuration was not
vulnerable to it, but it's good to be sure.)

  * sshd now understands MD5 passwords in the passwd file on Linux.

  * sshd will only log root logins if they actually succeed.

  * The OpenAFS client (used on Linux and Solaris) won't enforce list
permission checks which the server wouldn't enforce.

  * Terminal handling in the bash login dotfile has been fixed.

  * emacs -nw should work on IRIX.

  * The emacs cursor-in-non-selected variable should work properly
    now.

  * Linux machines set PUBLIC=true will fix up XFree86 4.x config
    files.

  * On Linux, the gdb and psmisc RPMs are updated with new versions
    from Red Hat.

  * Some (but not all) obsolete local symlinks from the 9.0 Solaris
    release will be cleaned up.

  * Solaris patch 108606-22 is installed to keep the X server from
crashing on the julia and penrose xscreensaver screen hacks.

  * The Solaris SUNWapchu package will be removed, since it contains a
vulnerable Apache daemon, and isn't the recommmended way to run a
web server on a Solaris machine anyway.

If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually
after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and
running "update_ws".

Please send any questions or comments to release-team.
