1. Counting

Bill was recently asked to chart the growth of Linux Athena over the
past year, and couldn't; all we can count right now is machines
booting. (You can use athinfo to see which machines are still up, but
it doesn't leave a record; you can't go back in time and do that in
previous months.)

To help fix this problem in the future, we will log daily from a cron
job as well as at boot time. We'll add a randomly generated ID so
that we can track machines which change hostnames via DHCP, and we'll
log the hostname and Athena version and platform to make it easy to
count other things.

2. Public release

We will go public with 9.1 on July 15, ideally.

3. Patch releases

We will put out a 9.1.10 to the dev cell today, hopefully, and to the
Athena cell Monday evening.

We should put out a 9.0 patch release for Linux with with the new
apache RPM in the upgrades list. (No other changes.)

We have an IRIX patch release pending, due for next Monday.

4. openssh vulnerability

The openssh vulnerability doesn't turn out to affect us.

5. Netscape

Not much said here, as it turns out; the Netscape problems are mostly
under control at this point.

6. Disconnected operation

We will be deploying disconnected operation stuff in 9.1 patch
releases.

We will use an rc.conf variable DISCONNECTABLE to switch behaviors
like starting zhm on the first network up event, running a local
sendmail daemon, etc.. (Maybe some day we'll just turn it all on by
default, but right now we're not really confident enough for that.)
