Some testing I just did and looking at the source code for a modern "vos" indicates that it won't access the VLDB during a "vos dump" if you: - specify the volume id instead of a name. - specify a server and partition to dump from. I tested this in the zone cell on a variety of volumes, and tested when there were no vlservers running (on volumes I hadn't previously accessed), so am fairly confident we can get the functionality we want without voldump.
