Hi folks,
Printing has generally been behaving lately but now I have an issue with
it. As of release 1.4.0, printing from the JDK appletviewer is broken.
On Suns, there is a dialog window with an entry for the selected printer
(defined by the $PRINTER env var) that says "Status: not accepting jobs".
On Linux, a dialog box pops up that says: "no print service found".
Printing works fine on releases 1.3.1_02 and earlier, so I think they
changed something in how it looks for a printer in 1.4.0. I'd appreciate
it if someone could investigate to see if we can fix it. On the JDK
side it's a black box- nothing appears to be configurable and there are no
installation instructions I know of that relate to printing.
To test:
add -f java_v1.4.0rc (-f needed on Sun)
appletviewer some-applet.html
Then run and try to print the output of the applet from the Applet -> Print
pulldown menu.
To see it working, replace java_v1.4.0rc above by java_v1.3.1_02.
Thanks,
Alex
