This is a reminder that the Athena 9.0.25 patch release (9.0.26 for
Solaris) is currently scheduled for the evening of Monday March 25.
Changes in this patch release include:
* reactivate will now kill running ssh processes it finds on
workstations set PUBLIC=true.
* ssh has been rebuilt against a newer version of zlib to fix a
denial of service attack.
* On Solaris, the zlib library in the relase is upgraded to 1.1.4 to
fix a denial of service attack for programs which link against it.
Other platforms have native zlib libraries.
* On Linux, a workaround is in place for the 3C509 autonegotiation
problem causing poor network performance for some black Dell
machines.
* On Linux, the Mesa, XFree86-100dpi-fonts, XFree86,
XFree86-75dpi-fonts, XFree86-ISO8859-2-100dpi-fonts,
XFree86-ISO8859-2-75dpi-fonts, XFree86-ISO8859-9-100dpi-fonts,
XFree86-ISO8859-9-75dpi-fonts, XFree86-Xnest, XFree86-Xvfb,
XFree86-cyrillic-fonts, XFree86-devel, XFree86-doc, XFree86-libs,
XFree86-tools, XFree86-twm, XFree86-xfs, Xconfigurator, at, dump,
e2fsprogs, gdb, glibc, glibc-common, glibc-devel, glibc-profile,
groff, kernel, kernel-headers, libgcj, libgcj-devel, modutils,
ncurses4, rmt, rsync, telnet, telnet-server, util-linux, uucp,
xinitrc, zlib, and zlib-devel RPMs were upgraded to stay current
with Red Hat 7.1 and to fix security holes.
* On Linux, the units and nfs-utils RPMs were added.
* On Solaris, Sun patches 108528-13, 108652-47, 108773-14,
108827-17, 108940-40, 108989-02, 110693-02, 111092-02, and
112334-02 were applied to allow installing Netra X1s and to be
current enough on jumbo patches for Sun's Java and Netscape
packages.
If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually
after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and
running "update_ws".
