Accomplishments past period:

From goals:

Work goals this month on Nautilus and Ethernet card diversity was
delayed by work on the ATI graphic card and dual-boot stuff.

    * Finish Evolution integration work. -- PROGRESS
    * Identify tasks for Nautilus integration. -- DELAYED
    * Deploy Linux Athena install with Dual boot functionality. --DONE
    * Work on modifications to Linux Athena install to support wide
diversity of Ethernet cards. -- DELAYED
    * Import upgrades of 3rd party software. -- DONE
    * Work on GX150 network performance problem. -- PROGRESS  (We have a
locally-deployable work-around.)
    * Work on upgrade of Athena Linux X upgrade to support new Dell ATI
graphics card that replaced NVIDIA graphics card. -- DONE
    * Prepare for entering March Crash&Burn phase of Athena 9.1 release
development. -- DONE
    *  Continued work to get Test Cluster KVM bug fixed. -- PROGRESS
(Rose Electronics needs to redo their USB interface because of this bug.
Expect a new version to try out next month.)

Other Accomplishments:

  * Fixed more little bugs in the nightly build. (Also known as the
Athena Wash.)
  * Participated in Linux Desktop Discovery by supplying that team info
as requested.
  * Started testing of Netscape 6.2.1.
  * Made progress on improvements to the Private Athena Workstation
Owners Guide.
  * Did leg work to get a contractor moving the "Hardware Diversity"
project moving forward.

Goals for the coming period:

  * Deploy patch release:
        For Linux: with work-around for GX150 ethernet lossage and with
latest ATI graphics card support so that GX240's can be installed.
        For Sun (if judged to be of reasonable scope) Solaris patches to
support Java 1.4 and Netscape 6.2.
  * Deploy Athena 9.1 Alpha release.

the Alpha release, and where it fits into the release cycle.)
  * Deploy usable test version of Netscape 6.2.1 for Linux and Sun in
infoagents locker.

Carry-forward goals from previous period:

    * Finish Evolution integration work.
    * Identify tasks for Nautilus integration.
    * Work on modifications to Linux Athena install to support wide
diversity of Ethernet cards.

Issues:

Subsequent review of the patches requested for Java 1.4 shows a pretty
extensive scope.  It may be decided to postpone roll-out of the patches.
