Sun only recently made 6.2.1 available for download. We are installing and
testing this as part of our efforts to get Netscape 6.2.1 (or equivalent)
working on all Athena Unix platforms.

There are some notable differences between the way Sun is handling 6.2.1
and the way it handled previous 6.x betas. First and foremost, they do not
make you hunt around in other places for their GTK library dependencies.
They have converted these into packages (i.e. so now there is a package
SUNWGtk* - see list below - that you install as part of the massive
Netscape installation).

Since some of these packages are library dependencies that Solaris
considers part of "the system" rather than "Netscape," I may have to ask
to put the contents of some packages into general Athena release - they
may need to be in certain locations in order for Netscape to find them. I
don't know yet. Netscape 6 has always had problems with this - the
assumption is that you are installing in a single-user environment. I'll
see whether I can pound it into looking for these libraries in some other
place, as has been done in the past.

Also, Sun is insisting that certain system patches be installed first, as
usual, and not saying exactly what these patches are and how vital they
are (also as usual). The numbers are:
108921-13
109740-04
108652-37
108773-12
108940-33

and maybe
109279-18
109742-04

(The latter two are in their list of patches to install, but their 'check
existing packages' script didn't complain about these two, so apparently I
already had them.)

Assuming these packages are indeed vital, they'll need to be put into
general Athena release for people to use 6.2.1 properly ... or so the docs
imply.

This is the full list of packages which Sun considers Netscape 6.2.1 and
baggage:

SUNWGlib, SUNWGlibS - glibc stuff
SUNWGtkS, SUNWGtkr, SUNWGtku - GTK+
SUNWgcmn - dunno what this is
SUNWj3rt - Probably a Java runtime library
SUNWns6b, SUNWns6bw, SUNWns6m, SUNWns6p, SUNWns6xp - Netscape proper
