 Accomplishments past period:

From goals:

  * Put out a patch release containing the tasklist fix, some Kerberos
security fixes, a time synchronization fix, and some Sun patches to fix
hangs on Sunblades and Netra X1s. -- DONE
  * Get Evolution to build on Solaris and IRIX. -- DONE on Solaris,
Progress on IRIX.
    * Roll out AUI GNOME tasklist bugfix to the field. (merged into
patch release goal above) -- DONE
  * Complete or make substantial progress on the the Evolution
integration. (Support for "treat a remote inbox as primary inbox"
functionality, did not come from third party. We may have to do it
ourselves.) -- Small Progress
    * Complete refinement of dual-boot Athena Linux custom install into
production quality. Target deployment for early January patch release.
-- Dual Boot work is done, plan is for Feb deploy. Other install
changes were deployed with the January patch release.
    * Complete installation of new KVM equipment and do UNIX team's
tasks for cleanup of the Test Cluster. Assist other teams with
completing the cleanup work. -- DONE: Unloved equipment is either gone
or in process of going. KVM has a low-impact bug we're getting looked
into.
    * Hold a meeting to discuss possible workplan responses to Zephyr
usability report (and other Zephyr issues, perhaps.) -- POSTPONED: This
project's priority has been lowered, and will probably not be worked on
for several months.
    * Get a Mozilla locker created and populated with current binaries
for people to play with. -- DONE for Sun and Linux.
    * Ongoing look at Nautilus as a canidate for 9.1 -- Small Progress.

Other Accomplishments:

    * Imported latest Open AFS source and built for Linux and Solaris.
Did some testing of the built server code.
    * Imported new version of gcc for nightly wash (build of Athena software).
    * Made 2 improvements to reduce Athena Software installed size when
9.1 goes to the field:
Went to shared libraries for Kerberos 5
Switched from Sun ld to gnu ld (unstripped binaries are 75% smaller.)
    * Completed cleanup of some chroot-based wash issues to get wash
running to completion.

 Goals for the coming period:

    * Finish Evolution integration work.
    * Identify tasks for Nautilus integration.
    * Deploy Linux Athena install with Dual boot functionality.
    * Work on modifications to Linux Athena install to support wide
diversity of Ethernet cards.
    * Import upgrades of 3rd party software.
    * Work on GX150 network performance problem.
    * Work on upgrade of Athena Linux X upgrade to support new Dell ATI
graphics card that replaced NVIDIA graphics card.
    * Prepare for entering Crash&Burn phase of Athena 9.1 release
development in March.
    * Continued work to get Test Cluster KVM bug fixed.

 Issues:

 Key learnings:

 Team dynamics:
This week's report was drafted at a Release Team meeting
instead of by Bill with assists by just ghudson and amb. Doing it at
the meeting seems to result in a higher quality report.
