Accomplishments past period:
From goals:
* Put out a patch release containing the tasklist fix, some Kerberos
security fixes, a time synchronization fix, and some Sun patches to fix
hangs on Sunblades and Netra X1s. -- DONE
* Get Evolution to build on Solaris and IRIX. -- DONE on Solaris,
Progress on IRIX.
* Roll out AUI GNOME tasklist bugfix to the field. (merged into
patch release goal above) -- DONE
* Complete or make substantial progress on the the Evolution
integration. (Support for "treat a remote inbox as primary inbox"
functionality, did not come from third party. We may have to do it
ourselves.) -- Small Progress
* Complete refinement of dual-boot Athena Linux custom install into
production quality. Target deployment for early January patch release.
-- Dual Boot work is done, plan is for Feb deploy. Other install
changes were deployed with the January patch release.
* Complete installation of new KVM equipment and do UNIX team's
tasks for cleanup of the Test Cluster. Assist other teams with
completing the cleanup work. -- DONE: Unloved equipment is either gone
or in process of going. KVM has a low-impact bug we're getting looked
into.
* Hold a meeting to discuss possible workplan responses to Zephyr
usability report (and other Zephyr issues, perhaps.) -- POSTPONED: This
project's priority has been lowered, and will probably not be worked on
for several months.
* Get a Mozilla locker created and populated with current binaries
for people to play with. -- DONE for Sun and Linux.
* Ongoing look at Nautilus as a canidate for 9.1 -- Small Progress.
Other Accomplishments:
* Imported latest Open AFS source and built for Linux and Solaris.
Did some testing of the built server code.
* Imported new version of gcc for nightly wash (build of Athena software).
* Made 2 improvements to reduce Athena Software installed size when
9.1 goes to the field:
Went to shared libraries for Kerberos 5
Switched from Sun ld to gnu ld (unstripped binaries are 75% smaller.)
* Completed cleanup of some chroot-based wash issues to get wash
running to completion.
Goals for the coming period:
* Finish Evolution integration work.
* Identify tasks for Nautilus integration.
* Deploy Linux Athena install with Dual boot functionality.
* Work on modifications to Linux Athena install to support wide
diversity of Ethernet cards.
* Import upgrades of 3rd party software.
* Work on GX150 network performance problem.
* Work on upgrade of Athena Linux X upgrade to support new Dell ATI
graphics card that replaced NVIDIA graphics card.
* Prepare for entering Crash&Burn phase of Athena 9.1 release
development in March.
* Continued work to get Test Cluster KVM bug fixed.
