respond to a user report that Autocad is broken
What's wrong:
A user reported not being able to run Autocad. On investigating this, Abby
and I find that restarting X in 8 bit mode seems to work on some Suns but not
others (all running 9.0.16). From what we can tell so far, it does seem to
work on Blades, but fails (silently) on some Ultras and not others.
Machines where it's consistently failing: democratic, dit, bheema
Machines where it's consistently working: never-never-land, bagheera
(all Ultra 5's in N42). Could you please look into this and put
high priority on getting a fix? A number of important Sun applications
can't be run on Suns without this, most notably Autocad but there are
others too.
