1. Solaris resolver problem
The short form is: we're screwed. The problem is a combination of bad
behavior in BIND 8 (it drops some queries and relies on the client to
retransmit) and an apparent bug in nscd. We can't realistically
replace BIND 8 in the 9.0 release, so we're stuck trying to fix nscd
to fix this bug.
2. Linux passwd.local
We should try to ensure that passwd.local always exists. It probably
isn't created by the SIPB install, and [discovered after the meeting]
we also nuke it in the public workstation cleanup; we should fix that.
3. Linux root shell
Inertia is probably going to make us leave the Linux root shell as
bash. We could switch it to tcsh during each update of athena-ws, but
that would probably irritate people who want it to be bash. We could
make tcsh the default for new installs (and on public machines), but
that would kind of mess up consistency within the platform.
