You should keep in mind that linux-dev is a *SIPB* list, and predates
by several years I/S Linux-Athena; it doesn't seem like we should force
ourselves (for values of "us" that don't overlap with SIPB) onto the
list; we also shouldn't conflate the list currently used for discussing
the SIPB Linux-Athena installer with anything I/S specific.

9.0.14 has AFS modules that support SMP kernels on linux (we had this
when we went public); the problem they're having is with the update not
dealing correctly. Greg's patches to rpmupdate to let rpmupdate look at
a list of RPMs that should be upgrade only if they're installed should
address the update problems, but isn't deployed yet.

We should keep in mind that these machines were installed with the
SIPB installer, and while they should update the same as I/S-installer
installed machines, some problem might exist. If we get involved with
this, we may want to work with someone who's done work on the SIPB
installer.
