I am aware of the version server, and I believe others are as
well; however, it's my general impression that this has fallen into
disuse, and while it's still functioning, I'm not sure any recent
applications have used it.

Given the state of the codebase, I'm not sure to what extent we
would like to encourage renewed use of it, either. It does seem to be a
useful tool for tracking applications we release and informing users of
upgrades, so it might be worth considering allocating resources to
working on the version server again.
