Miki writes, about the patches I forwarded to fix Java on Solaris:

Unfortunately, two vendor tech support departments (and Sun
information on the Web) emphasize that applying all the patches is
essential to proper Java 1.3 (and possibly earlier release) operation
on Solaris 2.7.

So if we can't apply them all I think we'll need to accept that Java 1.3
(and possibly < 1.3) will remain broken until we can, or until we go to
Solaris 2.8, where far fewer patches seem to be needed (only one so far,
if I recall correctly).

This is a pretty widespread problem, as I mentioned before- parts of the
1.3 JDK, Forte for Java 2.0, Matlab 6 and Splus 6 are broken due to Java
problems.
