The Athena 8.4.19 patch release is currently scheduled for the evening
of Monday January 29th. Changes in this patch release include:

	* Emacs was upgraded to version 20.7, mostly to fix a
	  difficult tty mode bug.

	* On Solaris and IRIX, the attach.conf has a rule added not to
allow mountpoints to be made on /install.

	* The attach.conf on all platforms allows the noac and actimeo
	  options for NFS mounts.

	* On IRIX, the X server has been updated (pulled in from IRIX
6.5.10) to fix a bug where gnome programs could crash the X
	  server.

	* There's a fix to the Solaris install script.

	* On Solaris, if machines magically eat their /usr/java
symlinks, the symlinks will be replaced.

	* Non-Linux machines with Linux clusterinfo won't copy in
	  Linux passwd files any more.

	* Solaris updates should work on Ultra 1s and 2s now.

	* On Solaris and Linux, new /etc/athena/rc.conf variables
should get sync'd after an update. (This was already the
	  case on IRIX.)

	* lpr now defaults to sending zephyrs to the user about jobs.
The -N option turns off zephyring.

	* lpd won't send zephyrs to instance personal any more.

	* lpd will say when printing is disabled even for a short
	  queue request.

	* The tcsh handling of << documents had a temp-file handling
	  bug, which is fixed.

	* The enscript man page has a fix for a formatting error which
was leading some users to overwrite their input files by
	  mistake.

	* The xss logging of logged-out users now logs the correct
	  username.

	* Solaris patches 106327-08, 106748-04, and 107058-01 were
applied, as they were required for the new Sun compilers.

	* The IRIX InPerson subsystem was removed; it had a local
	  workstation security issue.

	* On Linux, the bash, ed, modutils, ncurses, ncurses-devel,
pam, slocate, tcsh, and usermode RPMs were updated to
	  address local workstation security issues.

On Solaris, there are a few other changes because we withheld 8.4.17
for Solaris:

	* An output format bug was fixed in attach.

	* The CMU entries in the Athena Kerberos configuration files
	  have been updated.

	* Various bugs have been fixed in lpd.

	* xscreensaver will now say whether or not a screen has been
locked due to idle time, by default.

	* Solaris patch 109104-04 was applied.

If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually
after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and
running "update_ws".
