meeting minutes (Jan. 5)

daemon@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (Mike Barker)
Thu Jan 12 15:51:25 1995

From: Mike Barker <mbarker@MIT.EDU>
To: release-team@MIT.EDU
Date: Thu, 12 Jan 1995 15:51:13 EST

attending: jj, mark, anne, craig, carla, kevin, gary, mike

on track and rolling for the Jan. 10 "fire" test (including public
clusters).

anne and craig discussed the question of how best to provide afs
support for this set of test machines. First phase was about 40
machines, second phase is about 110 machines. First phase points to
dev cell which works well with the small number of systems, but there
is some doubt as to whether or not the dev cell will support the
larger number of systems in the second phase without some user-visible
slowness.

setting up the normal afs space for the release means about 1.5
gigabyte of space must be freed up--possible, but it will take time
(several days).

anne and craig will keep an eye on the speed of service and consider
moving to the normal afs space if necessary.

- anne and craig will start preparing to set up the normal afs space
for the Jan. 31 release.

- kevin will take care of posters and draft release notes for the
public clusters. (Carla or Kevin? was this for yesterday or the end
of the month?)

next meeting: Jan. 19.

Jan. 19 Topics:

1. review status of release
2. preview steps for Jan. 31 field release
3. start planning for summer release
