1. SGI portmap denial of service attack
portmap has been dying on some of our SGI machines, probably due to
scans. This causes fam error messages in the console and also
prevents Frame from running properly. There is some speculation that
it might be internal net-security scans which are killing portmap, but
we don't know that for sure.
We don't have a fix yet, but SGI's initial response is that it might
be a known bug. We'll see.
2. Patch release soon
Hopefully dev cell tonight, Athena cell evening of Mon. the 25th. But
there's no particular urgency.
3. Linux
We'd like non-i686 and SCSI root disk support in the install. amb
will work on this.
Linux machines have been coming up failing to fsck properly.
Apparently it's not always the cache partition which fails. We'll
need to modify rc.sysinit.
We might upgrade the kernel to 2.2.16 in the upcoming patch release,
since it seems to work with the 2.2.14 AFS module. Greg will decide
offline.
