I have made the version 5.0 Sun compilers (cc, CC, f77, f90) the
Athena default. These have actually been around since January, but
until today it was necessary to do "add -f sunsoft_v6.1" to use
them. Bundled with these are a couple of GUI development environments
(visu, workshop)- to use those you need to add the sunsoft locker
first (not needed for the compilers due to attach-and-run scripts in
the Athena release). There are new man pages too (type "add
sunsoft" first to access them). Release notes for most pieces can be
found by using the "-xhelp=readme" command-line option. "cc -flags"
gives a summary of command-line flags; see file
/mit/sunsoft/README.dynamic_linking for information about this topic.

Note that there is no Pascal (pc) compiler in this release. You can still
use the last release (including pc) by typing "add -f sunsoft_v5.1" which
will put the older versions first in your path.

                                          Alex
