I got account registration working on the Linux-Athena machines
this afternoon, and also on 8.4 Suns. On Linux, the problem turned out
to be a lack of a local java binary; with alexp's permission, I made the
Linux portion of the java_v1.1.6 locker world readable and am using
that.
The regapplet still loses on an 8.4 Irix machine the same way it
did on an 8.3 one. I'm inclined to keep on ignoring it.
